The Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation (MARR) joined us last Monday at the Canadian Institute of Planners conference to accept the Award for Planning Excellence in Planning Publications. The guidebook, developed last year by BC, Huu-ay-aht First Nations, Yuulu?l?at? (Ucluelet First Nation) and the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) with assistance from EcoPlan, was distributed across the province earlier this year.
MARR’s press release had some nice words from the Minister about the project:
“This resource guide will be an essential tool as we work with B.C. First Nations to secure treaties that provide economic benefit and security for all British Columbians. This innovative, co-operative effort by the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, Huu-ay-aht First Nations, Yuulu?l?at? and the Province will help create solutions to complex issues, resulting in greater efficiencies and smoother sailing for treaty implementation in B.C.”
The Ministry’s press release can be read in full here.
Congratulations again to everyone involved in this project!
