Feasibility Study – Choco-Andean Corridor Biodiversity Project: Ecotourism Component

Date: 2000

EcoPlan conducted this analysis with Fundacion Maquipucuna for the World Bank. It examined the development of a Choco-Andean Rainforest Corridor protected through conservation measures.  The analysis concluded that ecotourism, as a viable economic alternative to forest destruction and unsustainable resource use and as a contributor to biodiversity conservation, depends heavily on protection through a mechanism such as the Biodiversity Corridor Concept. The analysis developed an ecotourism concept as a feasible and viable alternative throughout the Choco-Andean Corridor, one component of a larger more comprehensive conservation strategy
