Traditional Land Use and Environmental Impacts of Proposed CNRL Development

EcoPlan was retained by Elizabeth Lake Métis Settlement (EMS) to provide a review of the community’s issues, concerns, and suggested mitigation regarding potential impacts to their traditional use areas from the developments proposed for the Cold Lake Oil Sands Area. The review built on EMS’ work researching and documenting its traditional use areas and activities, as part of an ongoing Traditional Use Study (TUS), and provided several recommendations around monitoring, consultation, access to TUS areas, and preventing contamination.
